Mike McCorkle, a native Kansan, grew up in a supportive Wichita household during the 60s & 70s. He had a happy childhood, participating in activities like Junior Achievement and Explorer Scouting, which fostered his love for nature. Raised with a strong work ethic by his father, Mike learned responsibility early, working alongside his father and delivering newspapers. After high school, Mike enlisted in the Army, where he served with distinction, including volunteering for Operation Desert Storm for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Following his military career, Mike lived and worked abroad for 25 years, visiting his family in Wichita every year. Mike holds multiple degrees and has worked in various fields, including education, international business, and senior care. He is divorced with three children and returned to Wichita in 2019 to care for his parents. Despite family losses, he remains dedicated to serving his father and community. He is on several boards including the Wichita Veteran’s Memorial Park board and active in our local Democracy.
Mike has always believed that voting is important, and since he is back in his hometown, he decided to get more involved in local politics to help build a more progressive Kansas! These past four years have seen Mike step up first as a PCP (Precinct Committee Person), an active member and officer in the Sedgwick County Grassroots Democrats, Co-Founder WestSide Dems and Kansas PCP Coalition, Sedgwick County Democratic Party PCP Committee Co-Chair, Co-Organizer for successful fundraisers, 4th District Secretary, an active door knocker for other candidates, and as a strong candidate to be the next House 100 Representative in west Wichita!
Mike believes in our constitutional democracy and swore an oath to protect and defend our constitution which he honors by running to be the next Kansas House Representative for District 100!
